Overdue up-date

Well it's been a big long time since I've been on here. The last few months have been a complete nightmare with work taking it's toll on me, and me suffering from exhaustion. Things are improving for me, and I can face typing my thoughts which I couldn't be arsed to do before. It hasn't been all gloom as I've still managed to escape to a few gigs every know and again, and this weekend in no exception as I'm off to see Angelspit at Slimelight, and tomorrow it'll be Covenat at the Electric Ballroom. I dread to think what I'll be like on Monday, but that't the least of my worries at the mo.

I've fallen head over heals in love with the Soho Dolls, who I've managed to see 3 times already this year, and will be catching them at 93 Feet East in November on the last date of their tour. I've also seen Regina Spektor at the Royal Festival Hall, and Terra Naomi at the ICA which was an amazing gig. I found out afterwards that Terra stayed on for another hour and a half chatting to fans, now how many people are willing to do that.

A few weeks back I was a tad pissed off, and needed some retail therapy so I talkied myself into seeing Siouxsie at the Roundhouse on Guy Fawkes Night. I'm so looking forward to seeing her, especially after hearing evidence of her solo album Mantaray.

Anyone interested, here's a link to my Flickr account with some photographic evidence of my gadding about London.

Once the dust settles from this weekend I will try to get back into the swing of things. It's taken a long time to even begin to feel normal again, what ever that is!!!!!

Terra at the ICA

Terra certainly did stay around. She sat with the little group I was with for about 15 minutes (I first met Terra back in August 2006 when she was appearing at the Borderline whilst visiting London for the first time to discuss publishing deals). One of the group was the delightful little Kira - she'd traveled all the way from Poland by bus just to see Terra (her first time out of the country). Kira's a talented artist and Terra has one of her drawings (of Terra herself) in her flat in London.
Anyway, you must have been very close to me judging by the angles, and you can see my pictures of Terra at the ICA (and other venues) on my Flickr account here :-

Terra always tries to make time to meet people. I know a few other musicians who do it, but not many stay around until half past midnight.

If you like Terra, then have a look at Brandi Carlile (who Terra recommended). She's appearing in her first ever UK gig at The Borderline on 30th November. Not to be missed in my view.

Re: Terra at the ICA

This is a very small world indeed. I met Kira on Deviantart after I put a couple of my photos on there. Kira mentioned someone by the name of Steve who had recorded ever show Terra had been to in the UK. I guess you must be one in the same.

Thank you for the link. When I have more time I will have a proper look, but now I must get some sleep.

Alas ~I hope to be seeing Asobi Seksu at Koko on the 30th or else I would have been up for the Borderline.

Coincidences

It is indeed a small world. It's something of an exaggeration to say that I've filmed all of Terra's UK gigs, but

So does that mean you were at the ICA with Kira, probably only standing a few feet away (she was off to the right, right next to Terra's keyboard) and didn't realise?

Kira's sending me a drawing she's made for me of the amazing Anna Phoebe, a very talented and versatile violinist that I've been fortunate to see and meet on several occasions.

Anyway, there are photos of Anna on my Flickr account and I have videos of a number of artists, including Terra, Karima Francis, Nerina Pallot, Anna Phoebe and a couple of others on my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/jonessg3

Re: Coincidences

I was right in front of the keyboard. Due to the spotlight right behind Terra I couldn't get a single decent shot of her playing the keyboard, even though I was a few feet from her. I must have stood next to Kira without knowing there would be a connection.

Re: Coincidences

That's downright unsettling. If you look at Kira's MySpace you'll see the picture that I took of her with Terra after the gig (it must have been almost 12:30 AM by then).

Kira also recorded Perfect Day and uploaded it onto her YouTube channel.

You can see that very spotlight you complained of.

I still can't quite get over this...
